Cosmetic Tooth Whitening

Teeth Whitening Before and After.Dr. Robert Burks provides a variety of cosmetic dentistry services, including teeth whitening, with safe, viable treatments that will whiten your smile. Based on the method that you may choose, you could be surprised that you are able to whiten your teeth three to eight shades in only one hour. A beautiful, white smile can bring you confidence, happiness and improve the impression you make on others.

Having Dr. Burks whiten your teeth in our Winter Springs office will not only work faster than the over-the-counter whitening products, it will also help preserve and better care for your sensitive gums and tooth surfaces. Before we begin any whitening treatments, we examine your teeth to make sure that the tooth discoloration isn’t caused by some other dental condition that needs to be treated. We are happy to answer your questions about the whitening methods that are available to you and which might be the best fit for your teeth.

Professional Whitening Methods

When you have your teeth whitened by Dr. Burks, you will find that he uses professional-grade bleaching gels in higher concentrations that are not available over-the-counter. We offer our patients two options for teeth whitening:

  • Teeth Whitening Options.In-Office Whitening —  Having your teeth whitened in our office will give you the quickest results as we are able to utilize the strongest whitening solutions. For this option, Dr. Burks will cover your gums and tooth-root surfaces with a substance that will protect these areas from the whitening solution. Then, we use a thin, plastic retractor that holds your lips and cheeks away from your teeth so that we can apply our professional-strength hydrogen peroxide gel which stays on your teeth for around an hour. When the gel is removed, you will see immediate teeth-whitening results.
  • Take-Home Whitening — Some of our patients prefer to have the advantages of professional whitening combined with the convenience of home treatment. In that case, we recommend our take-home teeth whitening system which may take several weeks. We will create two, thin, flexible plastic mouth trays that we custom-make for you based on the mold of your teeth that we take. You will fill the trays with whitening gel and position one of the trays over your top teeth and one over your bottom teeth and soak your teeth for around an hour at a time..

Caring for Your Whitened Smile

Once you have your teeth their perfect shade of white, you will want to keep them that way in the years to come! There are a few things that Dr. Burks recommends to keep your teeth their whitest including:

  • Keep up with your regular oral health maintenance including brushing and flossing every day.
  • Visit our Winter Springs office every six months for your regular professional cleanings.
  • Stay away from foods and beverages that may stain your teeth such as red wine, tea and coffee.
  • If you smoke, quit. Use your new, fresh, white smile as an incentive.
  • Schedule minor “touch-ups” to your whitening either at home or here at our office.
