Technology
When it comes to precise diagnosis
and treatment, we strive to offer our patients the best
technology science has devised. That's why we've equipped
our office with some
of the finest dental technologies available including:
- iTero Digital Impressions:
We are proud to announce that Dr. Burks is one of the first dentists in the Orlando area to offer new digital Impression technology for his patients who are having crowns and bridges. Designed to replace the dreaded “goop”, unpleasant taste, and gagging, associated with traditional impression taking, iTero digital impressions allow us to optically scan the area to be restored with a hand-held wand. This patented 3-D technology enables Dr. Burks and the Lab to create restorations with unmatched precision and accuracy. All of this translates into a superior restoration that seats easily and requires little or no adjustment.
- Digital
Radiographs (Xrays):
We utilize the newest type of dental radiographs known as “Digital Radiographs”. These are computerized digital radiographic images of your mouth and teeth that are stored in the computer. They can be instantly viewed on the computer monitor and can be magnified to better display any decay, abscess, bone loss or other problem that may be present. One major advantage to Digital Radiography is that it uses only 20% of the radiation that traditional xrays require, greatly reducing your exposure to xray radiation.
- Computerized
Charting:
Every patient record is now securely stored on our
computer. The ease in which we can store, retrieve
and compare information makes treatment much easier.
We now have more information at our fingertips available
to answer all your questions regarding insurance information,
your specific treatment needs or about treatment for
one of your family members.
Intra-oral
Camera:
“A picture is worth a thousand words.”
With our Intra-oral Digital Camera, you will be able
to see what your mouth or even individual teeth look
like close-up. The Intra-oral camera handpiece is
approximately the size and shape of a dental mirror.
It has a built-in light source, so it gives us easy-to-see
video and still pictures. The image from the camera
is instantly displayed on a computer monitor so you
can see what Dr. Burks sees. This will allow you to
better understand the condition of your mouth so you
can make more informed decisions regarding your dental
treatment. We want you to be a fully informed patient
before you make any decision regarding your dental
care.
- Sterilization
Techniques:
One of the benefits of a brand new office is brand
new equipment. Our state of the art Sterilization
Center provides a system for thoroughly cleaning,
sterilizing and storing our instruments. We use a
cassette system to organize and store our instruments
similar to what is used in hospitals. These sterile
packets are opened just prior to seating the patient
in the operatory. Disposable barriers are also used
whenever possible to help protect each patient from
cross contamination. Ask us to show you what we do
behind the scenes to help protect your health.
